A Christ-centered environment equipping students for LIFE
Science Curriculum Overview
- Earth Science (semester) This class takes the knowledge of basic facts about earth sciences and uses them to gain an understanding of moderately advanced concepts. Students who have this understanding are ready to make intelligent decisions about scientific and environmental problems of the future. At the completion of Earth Science, students will have an advanced understanding of the ocean, the universe, and the atmosphere surrounding our earth.
- Biology This course is designed to familiarize students with the many fields of biology so they may begin to inter-relate the facts, principles, and concepts from these different studies. Through class work, field trips, guest speakers, and lab work, students will begin to see the connections between all forms of life and appreciate God’s workmanship in His creation. Students will develop a way to evaluate theories of science which would question or contradict the Word of God.
- Chemistry In this course, students will learn the facts, formulas, and principles that are used in basic chemistry. They will develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to use in solving chemistry problems as well as extending those skills to use in everyday life. Through lab work students will gain concrete experiences, curiosity about natural phenomena, critical-thinking skills, and an understanding that there is a degree of uncertainty in all measurements.
- Physics This course explores the realities of the physical world in which we live. The laws of physics are introduced and explored through lab activities and mathematical calculation, based on the scientific formulas.
